Goiter

Defined as the enlargement of the thyroid gland which may be nodular (bumpy)or diffuse

Some Thyroid Disorders:

Hyperthyroidism - a condition where the thyroid gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormones

Signs and symptoms

   Weight loss, palpitations, nervousness,increased sweatiness, frequent bowel movement, heat intolerance, insomnia

Hypothyroidism - a condition where the thyroid gland makes insufficient amount of thyroid  hormones

Signs and symptoms

   Weight gain, sleepiness, sluggishness, fatigue, cold intolerance, depression,  constipation, thin and brittle hair
